Bio
Calvin is a PhD candidate in Population and Public Health, and Graduate Research Assistant at the Men’s Health Research Program at UBC. Prior to starting his PhD, Calvin worked in various capacities as a community health organizer and educator in Malaysia, primarily working with underprivileged populations and young people. Specifically, he’s planned, developed, and implemented numerous health education and screening programs, and led knowledge translation efforts for different target populations. As a qualitative researcher & health equity advocate, Calvin is committed to using a culturally responsive lens and strengths-based approach to address issues related to sexual and gender minority health including suicidality & mental health, sexual health, and relationship-building.
