Fellowship Program

About the Program

The 2S/LGBTQ+ Health Hub fellowship program supports emerging leaders in 2S/LGBTQ+ health and research from across the country. The program accepts new fellowship applicants annually, and funds successful academic and community-based trainees for seven months while they engage in learning and skill-development.

Through this model, the 2S/LGBTQ+ Health Hub aims to both deepen the knowledge that trainees already have while also fostering new learning and professional networks. $10,000 in funding is provided to each trainee, to support their work and recognize their participation in the program.

You can learn more about current and past 2S/LGBTQ+ Health Hub trainees by navigating to the "Fellows" page.

The 2S/LGBTQ+ Health Hub fellowship program includes several components, focussed on knowledge sharing, networking, and capacity building among emerging leaders in 2S/LGBTQ+ health and research. Our syllabus is organized around monthly themes, with assigned videos, readings, resources, and reflection questions.

Seminars

Monthly seminars are an opportunity for trainees to explore syllabus themes in greater depth, discuss topics of relevance, and engage in peer-to-peer learning and mentorship.

Mentorship

Each trainee is matched with two 2S/LGBTQ+ Health Hub mentors, to both support trainees’ learning goals and build capacity outside current skill sets, disciplines, and institutional sectors.

Experiential Learning

Experiential learning opportunities may be either self-directed, supporting the individual trainee’s learning goals, or achieved through involvement in projects addressing 2S/LGBTQ+ health being led by mentors and other 2S/LGBTQ+ Health Hub collaborators. Experiential learning involves a maximum of 100 hours across the course of the fellowship.

Open Lectures

Open Lectures. Public lectures on 2S/LGBTQ+ health issues, research, and interventions are offered on a regular basis. Over the course of the 2S/LGBTQ+ Health Hub fellowship, trainees are asked to attend a minimum of 5 of the offered lectures.

Rendezvous

Rendezvous. The 2S/LGBTQ+ Health Hub holds annual events, rotating locations across Canada, with the goal of bringing together Health Hub trainees, mentors, researchers, and community partners for learning and networking.
