Devon MacFarlane’s career has focused on leading strategic initiatives in healthcare, community organizations, and government contexts to advance health equity, with a substantial focus on 2SLGBTQI+ populations. Devon has served in a range of leadership roles advancing 2SLGBTQI+ health. These span serving as Health Canada’s lead for the whole-of-government 2SLGBTQI+ Action Plan; having been a Director of Rainbow Health Ontario, and serving as the President of the Canadian Professional Association for Transgender Health from 2014-2016. While at Rainbow Health Ontario, Devon was the opening expert witness for the House of Commons Standing Committee on Health’s study on 2SLGBTQI+ health in Canada, and acted as an expert witness in support of Bill C-16, which added gender identity and expression to the Canadian Human Rights Act.
