Bio
My name is Em (they/them) and I am a 3rd year PhD student in clinical psychology at the University of New Brunswick. Funded by an SSHRC Vanier Scholarship, my research efforts culminate at the intersection of eating disorders, gender diversity, and neurodivergence; my own lived experiences motivate me to address the drastic need for improved healthcare services within these communities. My current research explores trans folks' experiences with body image and gender euphoria, in hopes of contributing to the development of trans-affirming evidence-based interventions for eating disorders. Before starting my PhD, I spent over a decade heavily involved in grassroots climate justice and disability justice activism; my research carries forward my activist values by seeking to empower marginalized communities, amplify narratives of hope and agency, and advocate for structural change.
