Hannah Kia

Bio

Hannah Kia is an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia's School of Social Work. Her program of research broadly addresses 2S/LGBTQ+ health equity issues and, in recent years, has had a primary focus on the health and well-being of trans and gender-diverse (TGD) populations. Drawing on intersectional and other critical traditions of scholarship, some of her contributions include research on lived experiences of peer support among TGD people in Vancouver and Toronto, as well as a qualitative study of the healthcare and social service experiences of TGD older adults across Canada.
