Bio
Michael Butac (he/him) is a second-generation Filipino cis-gay man located on Treaty 13. He has an academic background in Psychology, Early Childhood Studies, and Addictions and Mental Health. Michael has worked for non-profits supporting 2SLGBTQ+ youth and people living with HIV/AIDS, as well as academic advising for postsecondary students. Currently, he is an Instructor at Humber Polytechnic and a PhD Candidate in the Urban Health program at Toronto Metropolitan University. His dissertation explores the experiences of 2SLGBTQ+ racialized youth who are aging out of youth social services in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. Michael is passionate about increasing representation of 2SLGBTQ+ racialized voices in health and social care research and academic spaces. On his spare time, he enjoys reading, hot yoga, karaoke, dancing, and cuddling with his two adorable cats.
