Biographie
Ivan is a social worker, educator and community organizer dedicated to the work of decolonization & cultural resurgence. Born and raised in in the Southern Caribbean, Ivan’s healing work is deeply shaped by his lived and cultural experiences as a Black, queer immigrant of Afro-Caribbean, Tamil and Kalinago ancestry. He has over a decade of experience working alongside queer, trans, immigrant, and Indigenous communities in advancing access to healthcare and education. In addition to his work as a mental health counsellor, Ivan is an instructor at Simon Fraser University and serves on the board of directors at CATIE, an organization leading HIV & Hep C knowledge mobilization at the national level.
